Déardaion (Dee-ar-deen) are an Irish Traditional Music ( ITM ) /Celtic band performing around Geelong, Victoria, Australia.
Déardaion, (Irish Gaelic, meaning “Thursday”) came together from the Thursday night Folk Music Session which is held each week in Geelong for people with an interest in playing and listening to ITM and other folk music genre.
Déardaion plays, what is loosely called, Irish Traditional Music (ITM) which is dance music including Reels, Jigs, Barn Dances, Waltz, etc. with a few slow Airs to tug at the heart. The music is drawn mainly from the Irish / Scottish tradition, but does include Breton and Newfoundland traditional tunes.
Formed three years ago, Déardaion has performed at local Markets and Folk club events. While continuing to play together at the casual weekly Thursday Music Sessions.
The group members are all long time members of the Geelong Folk Music Club and regular performers around Geelong in clubs and Sessions.
